How We Work With You:

  • We are a self-pay practice, and do not participate with or accept insurance, making pricing and payment transparent and simple. Unfortunately, we cannot care for patients who are enrolled in Medicare, due to Dr. Bodin’s anesthesiology practice and federal Medicare laws.

  • Labwork and medication prescription may be covered by your insurance policy, depending on the specifics of your coverage.

  • Your initial visit will be about one hour, with a two week follow up visit (around 30 minutes) to continue discussion of lab results and refining your initial health plan.

  • Monthly follow appointments will be 15-30 minutes, where we will review progress and needed changes.

  • All appointments are with Dr. Bodin.

  • Labwork will be repeated at intervals appropriate for you and your medical conditions and medications.

  • We will cover your medical and weight history, nutrition, activity, and behavioral components of weight management, with a goal of forming healthy habits for a lifetime.

  • Weight loss medications may be prescribed if appropriate for you. Which one(s) will depend on your individual health, and insurance coverage.

  • All possible healthy diets can be accommodated, including vegetarian, low carb, Paleo, vegan, Mediterranean, and custom plans for you.

  • We do not sell “weight loss” supplements or compounded medications, as these are unregulated and unproven.

ABOUT OBESITY AND OVERWEIGHT

(or PREOBESITY):

According to the Obesity Medical Association, Obesity is defined as a chronic, progressive, relapsing, and treatable multi-factorial, neurobehavioral disease, wherein an increase in body fat promotes adipose tissue dysfunction and abnormal fat mass physical forces, resulting in adverse metabolic, biomechanical, and psychosocial health consequences.

In other words, it is a complicated disease with many causes. Once it starts, it is hard to stop, and it is linked to many other diseases. And it is NOT YOUR FAULT.

Your genetics, lifestyle, age, hormones, activity level, medications and other illnesses, home and work environments, physical activity, and sleeping patterns, along with many other factors, all determine your risk for obesity and related diseases.  It is NOT YOUR FAULT! AND you are not alone!  About 42% of adults in the United States have obesity, with more developing it every year.  Our changing lifestyles and environment make it harder and harder to prevent and treat the disease.

What are the health consequences of obesity?  Many!  There are over 200 other diseases known to be associated with excess weight.  Many you may know, like high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and obstructive sleep apnea, but so are many others that you might not know about.  Cancer, deadly liver disease, kidney disease, depression, anxiety, and chronic pain, are all strongly associated with obesity.

The good news is that obesity is treatable! Our knowledge about causes and treatment of excess weight has grown a lot in the last 15-20 years, and exciting new medication options are expanding rapidly.

Like other chronic diseases, obesity must be treated for life.  This does not mean that you must be on medication for life, but that the changes you make to improve your health do need to be lifelong.
